March Trilogy

49.99

March: Trilogy is the inside story of the Civil Rights Movement through the eyes of Congressman John Lewis (Georgia).  This slipcase edition includes all three books in the series.  Written as a graphic novel by Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell, this autobiography starts in Book One with Lewis' childhood in rural Alabama to meeting Martin Luther King, Jr. and participating in sit-ins as a student activist to tear down segregation.  Book Two shows Lewis' determination and resolve as a Freedom Rider, facing police brutality, imprisonment, witnessing arson & murder.  The courage of the students in this movement attracts attention of powerful allies.  Lewis becomes one of the "Big Six" leaders of the Civil Rights Movement.  In Book Three, Lewis and an army of young activists launch a series of campaigns like the Freedom Vote, Mississippi Freedom Summer & more, further challenging and risking everything to fight injustice.

An inspiring way to read about this important part of American history, it also makes one appreciate the medium of comics & graphic novel as a medium.
