This tenth anniversary issue of “the tastiest zine” looks at : Pirkle Jones & Ruth-Marion Baruch’s 1968 photo essay of the Black Panther Breakfast program in San Francisco; Miss Pussycat’s fantasmagoric dinner party for vegan puppets; An Edwardian society dinner full of SHADE; A gathering of queer service industry workers in Brooklyn photographed by Noah Fecks; A Berber New Year’s dinner celebration in Algiers photographed by Abdo Shanan. Essays include navigating the glamorous world of boarding school cafeteria politics with Jessica Craig-Martin, trudging through soggy kale fields and teenage jobs with Max Blagg and Linda Sparrowe on student life in the 1970s, dodging the draft and how Vietnam changed everyone’s lives forever.
